Why I’m Glad I Learned to Drink Coffee
Hi, I’m Mac!
Do you drink coffee?
I actually couldn’t drink coffee at all back in the day.
But after being influenced by Australia’s coffee culture,
I somehow reached a point where I can’t get through the day without it 😂
So this time, I wanted to write a bit about
the health benefits of coffee.
Let’s start with the conclusion:
Coffee can be really good for you — if you drink it the right way.
And personally, I’m genuinely glad I learned to enjoy coffee ☕️
The Main Benefits of Coffee
1. Lower Risk of Death
According to research,
black coffee (this part is important!)
is linked to a lower risk of death.
Many studies suggest that
3–4 cups a day is the sweet spot.
⚠️ That said, caffeine tolerance varies a lot.
For me, I stick to 1 cup a day, 2 max.
Any more than that and I start feeling pretty bad 😂
2. Anti-Aging Effects
Coffee contains polyphenols, especially chlorogenic acid,
which help protect your blood vessels from aging.
Younger blood vessels = a younger body.
This is actually a pretty big deal.
3. Supports Brain Health
Regular coffee drinking has also been linked to
a lower risk of stroke and dementia.
One of the best things about coffee is that
the benefits seem to build over time.
4. Good for Your Mental Health
Coffee boosts dopamine,
which can help improve your mood.
There’s also data showing a lower risk of depression,
so a cup of coffee on a “low-energy” day
might actually make sense.
5. Helps With Fat Loss
Coffee may help with:
- Supporting fat burning
- Suppressing appetite
There’s even some research suggesting that
people with lower body fat percentages
tend to drink more coffee.
6. May Help Prevent Type 2 Diabetes
Coffee is also believed to protect the pancreas.
Some studies show that drinking 3 cups a day
can reduce the risk of type 2 diabetes by about 20%.
Compounds like chlorogenic acid
are thought to help with blood sugar control.
But Too Much Coffee Can Backfire 🙅♂️
Coffee has a lot of benefits,
but too much can have the opposite effect.
Things to watch out for:
- Too much caffeine (heart palpitations, headaches, dependency)
- Poor sleep quality
→ Avoid coffee within 6 hours before bedtime - Increased anxiety or irritability for some people
Everyone’s different,
so finding your own ideal amount is key.
How to Drink Coffee the Smart Way
- Up to 3–4 cups a day (depending on your tolerance)
- Switch to decaf in the afternoon
- Stick with black coffee ☕️
Final Thoughts
Coffee is often considered healthy,
but more isn’t always better.
The most important thing is finding
the right amount for your body 🔍
If you enjoy it in moderation as a daily habit,
coffee might be one of the healthiest drinks out there.
Since I started drinking coffee,
my focus, mood, and daily rhythm have all improved.
And personally, I highly recommend buying whole beans,
grinding them yourself, and making a hand-drip coffee.
The smell alone is unbeatable ☕️
