Hi, it’s Mack here.
People often think minimalists keep their fridges empty… but nope! I always keep a few “elite members” stocked up 🫡
Here are the 6 foods I never run out of.
1. Eggs
The ultimate all-rounder. Eggs are often called a “perfect food” because they’re packed with protein, vitamins, and minerals. Eating them in the morning can even help keep your blood sugar stable. Boiled, fried, scrambled—whatever, they always work!
2. Camembert Cheese
My slightly fancy fridge item. It’s rich in calcium and protein, and fun fact: some studies say the white mold in Camembert might even support brain health. Plus, it’s the perfect snack when I get a little hungry.
3. Miso
The heart of Japanese cooking. As a fermented food, miso is great for your gut and may help support your immune system. The soy isoflavones in miso are also linked to better blood pressure and cholesterol. A bowl of miso soup a day goes a long way!
4. Mozuku Seaweed
This one’s my ocean-powered detox food. It’s low in calories, high in minerals, and packed with fucoidan fiber, which may support gut and immune health. And since it’s so light, I can even snack on it at night without guilt.
5. Tofu
Cheap, healthy, protein-packed, and super versatile. On top of that, soy isoflavones may help with hormone balance and bone health. Cold tofu, in soup, in stir-fries—it works anywhere.
6. Natto (Fermented Soybeans)
The king of Japanese fermented foods. Natto contains nattokinase, which is said to support healthy blood flow. Eating it at breakfast can help keep your blood sugar stable, too. Plus, it’s rich in vitamin K2 for strong bones. The smell takes some getting used to… but once you’re hooked, it’s pure joy.
Wrap-up
These six foods are my fridge’s permanent members.
Minimalist or not, they cover my daily nutrition and keep me fueled even on busy days.
