Hi, it’s Mac here.
Today, I want to share what I do first thing in the morning. In the past, I used to sleep until the last minute before going to work, but over the past few years, implementing this morning routine has improved my wakefulness and seems to have boosted my self-esteem as well.
Warm Water to Gently Wake Up Your Body
The first thing I do when I wake up is drink warm water.
I heat water in the microwave since I don’t have a kettle—this is the easiest for me 😂
I don’t like drinking tap water as it is, and since it’s something I drink every day, a water purifier is essential ☝🏻
I use the “Cleansui” series of water purifiers 🚰
With this purifier, if you check for residual chlorine using a product called a Water Checker, it comes out completely clean. Truly a top-notch Japanese brand 👏
It’s far more cost-effective than constantly buying mineral water, and it doesn’t create extra waste.
So far, this purifier is my favorite 🚰
Warm water gently heats your internal organs and boosts your metabolism.
Your body slowly starts moving, blood circulation improves, and you can start your day feeling refreshed.
It also seems to help flush out unnecessary substances, making it perfect for your first drink in the morning.
Yoga to Reset Your Body and Mind
Once your body is warmed up, I do yoga 🧘♂️
I usually follow the YouTube channel “B-Flow.”
Yoga helps balance your mind and body, stabilizes the autonomic nervous system, and with deep breathing and stretching, you can feel your mind being reset.
After finishing, both my mind and body feel light and refreshed.
Doing it while basking in the sunlight also helps regulate your body clock and makes waking up even more pleasant.
Skip Breakfast to Activate Autophagy
Lastly, I intentionally skip breakfast to promote autophagy.
Autophagy is the process where cells break down and recycle old parts of themselves, helping them rejuvenate.
Creating a period of fasting activates this function, refreshing your body from the inside. It seems to work differently for everyone, but I personally feel better skipping breakfast. Plus, it saves money on morning meals 😂
Tips for Morning Habits
At first, waking up earlier than usual can be tough, but gradually adjusting by 5 or 10 minutes at a time helps your body get used to it.
By making warm water and yoga a part of my morning routine, I’ve gained a sense of accomplishment, improved my self-esteem, and turned my mornings into meaningful, productive time✌️
