Minimalist, But These Are Non-Negotiable!

English

Hi, I’m Mac.

I usually try to keep my belongings to a minimum, but honestly, there are a few home appliances I just can’t live without.

Here are my top three essentials.

1st Place: Refrigerator

Storing ingredients, keeping meal preps fresh, and chilling drinks.

Since I mostly cook at home on weekdays, a fridge is absolutely necessary to keep all that going.

Especially in summer, living without cold drinks was just… no thanks! 😩

I thought about those compact mini-fridges with a freezer compartment on top—like you find in business hotels—

but considering food storage and ice cream, that just wouldn’t cut it for me 😂

2nd Place: Washing Machine

I once considered relying on laundromats.

But hauling laundry out in the rain? No thanks.

Going after work, plus waiting time, would just wear me out even more.

I do laundry 2-3 times a week, so having a washing machine saves me so much time and effort.

When it comes to saving time and energy, this one’s a must-have.

3rd Place: Microwave

At first, I thought, “Can’t I just reheat stuff on the stove?”

Sure, you can—boiling water in a pan to warm rice, for example.

But man, it takes forever!

I gave it a week before giving up and buying a microwave.

Again, a total time and energy saver, and absolutely essential for me.

Other Appliances Are Surprisingly Replaceable

  • Rice cooker → I can cook rice in a pot
  • Kettle → I boil water in a pot

It’s hard to know the line between “convenient but doable without” and “can’t live without” until you actually live minimalist.

To Wrap Up

For me, minimalism isn’t about throwing everything away to the extreme.

It’s about keeping what’s truly valuable so life stays comfortable.
